Appropriate stretching deformation can accelerate the aging process and slightly improve the strength of the aluminum profile. Excessive stretching deformation, besides causing “orange peel” texture, will also alter the cross-sectional dimensions and easily lead to over-aging, reducing the product’s strength.
For 6063 alloy, the stretching elongation should be controlled between 0.5% and 2%, generally 0.5% is sufficient, and the maximum should not exceed 3%.
